Electronics is the art of controlling electricity to make useful things happen, from a blinking LED to a smart home sensor.

Start with the basics

• Voltage, current and resistance: how Ohm’s law ties them together.
• Components: resistors, capacitors, diodes, LEDs and transistors.
• Reading circuits: schematics, breadboards and safe wiring.
• Microcontrollers: boards such as Arduino, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi Pico.

A good first project

Light an LED with a battery and a resistor, then control it with a button, then with a microcontroller. Each step adds one new idea.

Safety: stay with low-voltage batteries and USB power. Never work on mains electricity.
